The TAPPS 6A state tennis title felt twice as nice for the Ursuline doubles tandem of Nicole Lawrence and Marlo Caracio on Tuesday.
The duo captured its second consecutive championship with a straight-sets victory over a team from Houston St. Agnes at the Waco Tennis Center. For the second straight year, Lawrence and Caracio did not drop a set in any matches at the state tournament.
Caracio is a senior, meaning the partners will not have a three-peat in their sights. However, Lawrence will return for the Bears next season.
Ursuline finished second behind St. Agnes in the girls team standings at the state tournament, with senior Stephanie Untermeyer reaching the semifinals in the singles bracket.
