Scots Aim for Playoff Spot in Final Week

Highland Park is on the brink of clinching another baseball playoff berth after sweeping two games against Greenville in lopsided fashion.

Heading into the last week of the regular season, the Scots (17-9, 8-4) are two games ahead of Royse City for fourth place in the District 13-5A standings. HP will face the Bulldogs twice this week — on the road Tuesday and at home on April 29 in the finale — needing just one win to secure a postseason spot.

The Scots snapped out of a recent offensive slump by outscoring the Lions by a combined 28-1 in the two matchups, most recently a 12-1 road victory on Friday. In that game, Ben Bailey was the winning pitcher while also belting two extra-base hits.

HP capped the week with a 5-0 defeat against Prosper Rock Hill in a nondistrict game on Saturday.
