SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: DERBY DOWNER

A porch pirate pilfered packages containing derby hats, water, hair clips, and pacifiers from a home in the 4300 block of Westway Avenue before 4:21 a.m. May 1.

HIGHLAND PARK

25 Monday

Arrested at 1 a.m.: a 28-year-old man accused of driving while intoxicated in the 3300 block of Mockingbird Lane.

Arrested at 11:06 p.m.: a 38-year-old man accused of theft of property in the 4700 block of Abbott Avenue.

27 Wednesday

A rogue broke an exterior window of a home in the 4200 block of Arcady Avenue before 7:52 a.m.

Arrested at 4:20 p.m.: a 57-year-old woman accused of driving while intoxicated in Highland Park Village.

28 Thursday

Arrested at 1:33 p.m.: a 26 year old accused of possession of a controlled substance in the 4900 block of Worth Street.

Reported at 2:02 p.m.: a porch pirate pilfered packages containing a Lacrosse rebounder, an Earth Day flag, and leggings from a home in the 3600 block of Euclid Avenue.

29 Friday

Arrested at 10:07 a.m.: a 24 year old accused of possession of a controlled substance, intentionally providing false information, driving without insurance, displaying wrong registration, driving without a valid license, tampering with evidence, and for a warrant in the 4300 block of Fairfax Avenue.

30 Saturday

A crook shattered the rear hatch glass on an Audi Q5 in the 5400 block of Byron Avenue before 9 a.m.

Reported at 9:45 a.m.: a jerk shattered the rear hatch glass of a Range Rover in the 3600 block of Maplewood Avenue but didn’t take anything.

A careless driver jumped a curb in the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive then crashed into and came to rest atop a concrete wall housing a flower bed at 11:26 a.m.

A bus driver hit a low-hanging tree limb in the 5000 block of Abbott Avenue around 8:07 p.m., damaging the roof, sides, and front right passenger side of the bus and breaking the limb off the tree.

1 Sunday

Arrested at 12:14 a.m.: a 33 year old accused of evading arrest, unlawfully carrying a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and for a warrant in the 5400 block of Hillcrest Avenue.

Reported at 7:58 a.m.: a smash and grab. A ne’er do well broke the back window of a Range Rover parked in the 4600 block of Edmondson Avenue and grabbed a tennis racquet, a children’s tennis racquet, a monogrammed tennis racquet bag, and a camouflage backpack.

Arrested at 2:03 a.m.: a 22-year-old man for a parole violation in the 5400 block of Hillcrest Avenue.

UNIVERSITY PARK

25 Monday

A thief drove off in a Ford F250 from the 3600 block of Haynie Avenue before 2:13 a.m.

27 Wednesday

A swindler used the information of a woman from the 3300 block of Rosedale Avenue at 2:28 p.m.

28 Thursday

A rogue smashed the window of a Chevrolet Corvette in the 4400 block of Lovers Lane and grabbed $250 from inside at 11:21 a.m.

29 Friday

A crook took a Trek bicycle from outside a home in the 4400 block of Glenwick Lane at 6:41 p.m.

Arrested at 7:30 p.m.: a 20-year-old woman accused of theft of property in the 4300 block of Grassmere Lane.

1 Sunday

A rogue damaged various household goods at a home in the 3900 block of Southwestern Boulevard before 9 a.m.

A pilferer picked up a purse from a Porsche parked in a garage of a home in the 3300 block of Colgate Avenue before 9:38 a.m.
