SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: LOST LAPTOP

A jerk took a Dell Latitude 5420 laptop from the workstation of a Whole Foods employee in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive at 5:40 p.m. July 21.

HIGHLAND PARK

19 Tuesday

Reported at 12:43 p.m.: a fraudster altered a check mailed by a man from the 4500 block of Belfort Place.

21 Thursday

Arrested at 2:10 a.m.: a 27-year-old woman accused of possession of a controlled substance and for warrants in the 4800 block of Abbott Avenue

A good neighbor found a Beretta rifle case with only a cleaning rod inside on the ground in the 4600 block of Southern Avenue and turned it in to police at 12:55 p.m.

Police in the 4700 block of Drexel Drive tried to find the owner of a pair of AirPods that had been in police custody for about a week prior at 2:26 p.m.

Reported at 3:17 p.m.: a burglar made off with a bicycle from a home in the 4600 block of Southern Avenue.

A thief drove off in a Ford F150 from the 4000 block of Miramar Avenue with an attached 10-foot trailer that had a push lawnmower, a riding lawnmower, and two leaf blowers inside before 4:09 p.m. The truck was later found abandoned, but the lawn equipment remained missing.

22 Friday

Arrested at 3:49 a.m.: a 26 year old accused of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and public intoxication in the 4300 block of Macarthur Avenue.

A pilferer picked the front license plate from a Nissan Murano parked at the Dallas Country Club in the 4100 block of Beverly Drive before 3:30 p.m.

23 Saturday

A ne’er do well nabbed a $50 Hermes agenda day timer and a $100 Stella gym bag containing a Dell laptop charger, and an AirTag from a Tesla parked in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue before 3:30 p.m.

24 Sunday

A rogue shattered the driver’s side rear passenger window and damaged the driver’s side front window of a Yukon Denali parked in the 3400 block of Gillon Avenue at 3:41 p.m.

UNIVERSITY PARK

19 Tuesday

A crook broke into a Lexus parked in a garage in the 6000 block of Preston Road and took a bag, computer hardware/software, $200 worth of clothing, and more from inside before 3:20 p.m.

A stealer took a Lenovo T480, a debit card, $100 worth of office equipment, and more from a GMC parked in the Plaza at Preston Center before 8 p.m.

20 Wednesday

A bicycle burglar took a Trek mountain bike from a restaurant in Snider Plaza around 5:30 p.m.

21 Thursday

A pilferer found easy pickings of a set of golf clubs and bags left in an unlocked Range Rover in the 4200 block of Stanhope Drive before 3:57 a.m.

A thief took tail lights off a Ford F150 in the 4500 block of University Boulevard overnight before 6 a.m.

Arrested at 11:36 a.m.: a 62-year-old man accused of driving while intoxicated in the 5900 block of Preston Road.

22 Friday

Arrested at 10:36 a.m.: a 28-year-old man accused of driving while intoxicated in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street

23 Saturday

A purse pilferer took a Luis Vuitton handbag with a Gucci wallet, cards, and $100 cash inside from an Audi in the 8400 block of Preston Road at 3:19 p.m.

Arrested at 9:51 p.m.: a 35-year-old man accused of public intoxication in the 3900 block of Lovers Lane Circle.
