Oak Hill Academy Hosts ‘Honoring the Past’ Founders Reception

To celebrate its 35th anniversary, Oak Hill Academy honored its three founders and longtime educator Pam Quarterman for their work with the school.

Envisioning a haven for students with learning challenges too complex for the programs available in Dallas in 1987, David and Patty Miller and their daughter’s speech-language pathologist and special education expert Carole Hill launched Oak Hill Academy.

Quarterman joined the school in its second year and served for three decades, including as its executive director.

“Oak Hill Academy simply would not exist as it does today without these four individuals,” said Joy Laukoter, the academy’s community affairs coordinator.

Board member Gretchen Minyard Williams hosted an April 28 reception at her home. The board announced the naming of the Patty & David Miller Early Childhood Learning Garden, The Carole L. Hill Scholarship Fund, and The Pamela Quarterman Professional Development Fund.
