SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: SNEAKY SHOPPER

A wallet lifter took a Kate Spade wallet containing debit and credit cards from the purse of a shopper at the Whole Foods in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive before 2:44 p.m. July 31 and used the cards to try to buy stuff.

HIGHLAND PARK

25 Monday

Reported at 11:40 a.m.: a scammer used the information of a man from the 4500 block of Belfort Place to start utility service and try to open a line of credit to buy a vehicle.

27 Wednesday

Arrested at 9:09 p.m.: a 42 year old for warrants in the 5400 block of Fairfield Avenue.

A crook took two catalytic converters from a Toyota Tundra that’d been parked in a parking lot at Highland Park Village before 9:30 p.m.

28 Thursday

A porch pirate pilfered a package containing a pair of sandals from a home in the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue before 8:18 a.m. 

Reported at 10:29 a.m.: a swindler used the information of a woman from the 4200 block of Bordeaux Avenue to order COVID-19 test kits.

Arrested at 10:53 p.m.: a 45-year-old man accused of assault causing bodily injury in the 4500 block of Belclaire Avenue.

30 Saturday

A burglar got into a Ford F350 parked in the 4500 block of Fairway Avenue and made off with a wrench from inside before 7 p.m.

UNIVERSITY PARK

25 Monday

A burglar made off with a Rad Rover electric bicycle left outside Highland Park High School in the 4200 block of Emerson Avenue before 8:30 p.m.

26 Tuesday

A stealer got into a Lexus GX460 parked in the 3500 block of Purdue Avenue and took a $1,000 handbag containing an iPhone, a credit card, and a debit card from inside at 3:30 p.m.

27 Wednesday

Reported at 10:17 a.m.: a jerk stole an HP laptop from a vehicle parked in the 3500 block of Westminster Avenue.

Arrested at noon: a 48-year-old man accused of driving without a valid license in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street.

Reported at 12:19 p.m.: a fraudster cashed checks from the 3200 block of Westminster Avenue for thousands of dollars that appeared to be forged. 

29 Friday

A ne’er do well nabbed a backpack, an HP Elitebook, and a business ID card from a BMW 840 parked in the 4100 block of University Boulevard before 7:30 a.m.

30 Saturday

Arrested at 10:26 p.m.: a 51-year-old man for a warrant in the 1800 block of Forest Lane.

A jerk sent threatening emails to a man from the 4300 block of Glenwick Lane around midnight.

31 Sunday

Arrested at 3:11 a.m.: a 19-year-old man accused of public intoxication in the 6200 block of Hillcrest Avenue.


Reported at 10:29 a.m.: a crook took a Trek Dual Sport bicycle from a home in the 4100 block of University Boulevard.
