Scots Look to Defend Home Turf at State
Highland Park is not only the top seed at this weekend’s Texas High School Lacrosse League state tournament, but it will have a home-field advantage, too.
The Scots agreed to step in late after original host Austin Westlake declined. That shifts Saturday’s semifinals and Sunday’s championship game to Highlander Stadium. HP is seeking its ninth state title.
One semifinal features HP against Jesuit Dallas in a rematch of longtime rivals. The Scots (18-3) cruised to a 20-7 win over Cypress Woods in their playoff opener on May 3.
HP’s only loss to an in-state opponent all season came against Jesuit on April 11, in a 7-6 overtime thriller. Both teams are unbeaten since that matchup, with the Rangers (11-5) upsetting Westlake 8-7 in the quarterfinals to advance.
Defending champion Episcopal School of Dallas will meet The Woodlands in the other semifinal in a clash of perennial powerhouses. The Eagles (18-2) rolled to a 19-6 victory over Southlake Carroll in the quarterfinal round, while The Woodlands dispatched Lake Travis.
If the favorites hold, HP and ESD would face off in Sunday’s championship game. The Eagles defeated the Scots twice in 2024, including in the state semifinals. However, HP scored a decisive 11-4 win over ESD in this year’s regular-season finale.
