As a volunteer and donor for Rainbow Days, the University Park resident invests in helping children in adversity build coping skills and resilience to create positive futures.

Rainbow Days “works with local schools, shelters, and other similarly minded organizations to serve over 20,000 children annually through after-school programs, summer camps, mentorship programs, and presentations in other group settings,” he noted. “Additionally, Rainbow Days is the developer of the evidence-based and nationally-recognized Curriculum-Based Support Group Program (“CBSG”).”

How did you get involved with this nonprofit?

In 2019, my oldest son, Lane, and I volunteered at Rainbow Days’ annual Saturday with Santa event. The event allows children and families living in local shelters and centers to enjoy a Christmas carnival with games, arts and crafts, and other events, while also providing parents the ability to “shop” the event’s store of donated children’s items such as toys, games, clothes, and other necessities. My son and I were both inspired by the work that Tiffany Beaudine (CEO) and the Rainbow Days team performed that day, as well as moved emotionally by the sheer number of people in our community who needed help. That following week, I reached out to Tiffany and her team, offering my assistance, and I have been on the board of directors since early 2020.

Why do you support it today?

I continue to support Rainbow Days because I am still as passionate and driven to serve my personal mission of helping youth experiencing adversity overcome obstacles in order to live productive, happy, and fulfilling lives, and I still have the utmost confidence in Tiffany and her team achieving Rainbow Days’ mission.  By continuing to volunteer with Rainbow Days and following the organization closely from the board, I have witnessed the changes possible by providing assistance, support, and encouragement to children in need, and I intend to continue to volunteer my time and resources to help this organization.

What would you say to someone else considering a donation to the nonprofit this year?

Whether or not you choose to help Rainbow Days or another local organization, please consider participating on North Texas Giving Day to help the many people in our community who are struggling – financially, mentally, or physically.  Texans should be proud of their reputation for being generous, and all of us should strive to strengthen our community by helping our neighbors in need.  As you consider where to give, I would challenge you to find a way to get a bigger “bang for your buck” than helping a young child overcome obstacles – most of which are not the fault of the child – to live long, productive lives. There are also many other organizations serving the many thousands of North Texas children in need, but I trust Rainbow Days, which has 40+ years of experience serving 280,000 children across 100+ service sites in North Texas.
