In July, PGIM Real Estate executive director Kent Cummings attended the Adult Education Graduation ceremony at Highland Park United Methodist Church, where 100-plus graduates earned their high school equivalency or Integrated Education and Training Certifications.

The University Park resident, who has a son at Boone Elementary School, described the event as moving.
“Supported by an auditorium of their family and friends, this event highlights the significant impact made by the Wilkinson Center, its staff, trainers, teachers, supporters, and volunteers,” he said. “Beyond cheers and balloons, this event was filled with second chances, tears of joy, relief that the goal was achieved, pride of accomplishment, and excitement for a brighter future.”
What kind of work does it do?
For over 40 years, the Wilkinson Center has transformed the lives of Dallas families by providing pathways to self-sufficiency with dignity and respect. This includes adult education, job training, workforce development, and food support.
How did you get involved with this nonprofit?
My coworkers and I have volunteered at Wilkinson Center events for over 10 years, including helping children select shoes at back-to-school shoe drives, stocking the food pantry, and even being Santa at the Annual Toy Drive. I joined the board of directors in January 2024.
What would you say to someone else considering a donation to the nonprofit this year?
Please help the Wilkinson Center create additional success stories within the community. Your support will enable Dallas families to attain self-sufficiency, with a pride of accomplishment and excitement for a brighter future. Additionally, it will help provide food security through its food pantry and the Pantry2Go refrigerated truck.
