Siblings Charlotte, Walker, and Olivia Norwood have gone a long way and made a big difference thanks to their little lemonade stand at the corner of Southwestern Boulevard and Hillcrest Avenue.
The trio delivered $3,887.25 last weekend to Kerr County’s Dietert Center, an indispensible resource for area senior citizens that was severely damaged by July 4’s devastating floods.
With some help from mom Tashi Walker, the siblings raised the funds by selling lemonade and treats along with Texas Forever hats and stickers. They also received a gift from a generous donor.
While flood damage has forced the Dietert Center to pause onsite activities, it has continued lending free medical equipment and delivering the Meals on Wheels that about 300 Kerr County seniors depend on each weekday.
The Center has moved its respite services for family members caring for loved ones with dementia to a temporary location, and has started offering the hot meals usually served in its Friendship Café to-go, according to the Center’s webpage.
The Norwood siblings also raised $1,700 at their lemonade stand in May for the Tabitha Outreach Foundation Academy, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of orphans, widows and the fatherless in southwest Kenya.
