It’s been half a season. Nothing has slowed the Highland Park offense yet, save for some bad weather in Week 2.
The Scots (4-1) enter Friday night’s District 6-5A game against Red Oak with a red-hot average of 48.0 points per contest. Last week at Tyler, they put up a season-high 70 points as they and the Lions red-lined their engines in a back-and-forth tilt.
Scots quarterback Buck Randall leads area 5A passers with 1,693 yards and 19 touchdowns, and Cannon Bozeman continues to lead area 5A receivers with 597 yards and 23.9 yards per reception.
(Imagine if HP had gotten to finish its game at Lucas Lovejoy on Sept. 5, which it led 21-0 when the lightning-delayed game was called off at halftime).
So Red Oak (2-2) has a challenge with the Highland Park offense. The Hawks have had two weeks to get ready, since they were on a bye last week following a Sept. 19 victory at Killeen Ellison. In games against Colleyville Heritage (20-11 win), at Arlington Seguin (41-34 loss), at Cedar Hill (41-16 loss) and Ellison (39-26 win), Red Oak averaged 27.3 points and allowed 29.8.
