John Gurke – an assistant band director at Highland Park High School — was dismissed during a special HPISD Board of Trustees meeting Thursday evening.
After a brief closed session, the trustees announced that Gurke was being dismissed because he “does not hold a valid certificate to teach in the state of Texas.”
