For the second straight season, Hillcrest has advanced to the second round of the Class 5A Region II softball playoffs.
The Lady Panthers rallied from an early deficit for a 9-3 win over Woodrow Wilson in a bi-district game on Friday at Forester Field. Hillcrest will meet Mansfield Lake Ridge in the area round at 7 p.m. Thursday in Cedar Hill.
Aydee Cardenas was the winning pitcher for the Lady Panthers, who won the District 11-5A title during the regular season. Jackie Molina’s double led an 11-hit attack.
