The most exciting thing to arrive in my mailbox today — actual mailbox, not email inbox — was an invitation to the Preston Hollow home of Shawn Marion. The Dallas Mavericks forward wants me to attend a reception he’s hosting to welcome new teammates Vince Carter, Delonte West, and Lamar Odom to town, as well as Odom’s wife, reality TV star Khloe Kardashian. Alas, I have a previous commitment related to one of my sons. As Gale Snoats once said, “So many social engagements, so little time.”
