The City Council voted 8-6 today to levy a 5-cent fee on each plastic bag distributed at Dallas stores. Two of the six votes against the new ordinance came from Preston Hollow’s representatives on the council, Jennifer Staubach Gates and Lee Kleinman. Their colleagues in the southern side of the city were reportedly taken aback by Kleinman’s reasons for not supporting the ordinance, which he lays out in the video seen here.
