I apologize for the quality of this phone photo. Who will apologize for the quality of the poster?

It’s Homecoming Week at Highland Park High School, and posters have been put up that inform students what to wear on each day.

Today: “Prep Day (Country Club)” — The easy joke would be “How is this different from any other day?” But, based on my experience, that joke applies to another day. Keep reading.

Tuesday: — I can’t tell what kids are supposed to do tomorrow. Note to the creators of this poster: Orange type on a pink background is a horrible design strategy.

Wednesday: “Twin Day” — It cracks me up that this isn’t “Twins Day.” You can’t be a singular twin, can you?

Thursday: “Western Day” — The image of a cowboy boot helped me decipher that orange type.

Friday: “Spirit Day” — This is where the aforementioned joke applies. I interpret “Spirit Day” as a day to wear Scots merchandise. I lack the proper perspective, having attended a high school with no sports teams, but I’ve noticed that 75 percent of the kids I see while serving in the cafeteria are showing Scots spirit on a typical day. And I rarely see the same T-shirt twice. Makes you wonder how many different pieces of Scots merch get produced in a given year.
