Did you know Thom Filicia, the interior-design guru from Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, was at Calypso St. Barth in The Plaza at Preston Center last night? I didn’t, until last night.
As I wandered through the plaza, I was drawn to the store by live music emanating from its propped-open front door. Then I noticed a small crowd inside. Then I saw the oversized reproduction of the cover to Filicia’s new book, American Beauty. Finally, I saw the man himself, signing copies of the book.
Memo to all Park Cities merchants: If you’re going to have a celebrity in your store, tell me ahead of time. Maybe I can help you drum up a bigger crowd.
