Library staff and the City of Dallas Bond Office invite residents to a community meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 to initiate discussion for the next steps in planning the renovation of the Preston Royal Branch.

According to staff, the plans are still in the preliminary stages and are not yet queued for contractor or vendor proposals, but the meeting will introduce a proposal of potential plans for the renovation of the library, including discussion about what the process might entail and a potential timeline for the construction period.

The renovation projects for the slated municipal libraries are part of the 2024 Dallas Public Library Capital Bond Program, which reported in its 2023 Quality of Life Committee Briefing that the full renovation of the Preston Royal Branch would extend its useful service life by 40-50 years.
