55 Seventy has teamed up with j.Rae’s and Exalt Printing to raise funds for Texas Search and Rescue and support ongoing recovery efforts in the Hill Country.
The 55 Seventy Team hoped to raise $5,000 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at a stand offering lemonade, iced tea, and pink, purple, and green frosted cookies at the corner of Preston Road and Berkshire Lane.
“This is our little part,” 55 Seventy Founder Tommy Shuey said. “We wanted to do everything we could, and we wanted to make sure we could do it effectively and quickly.”
Shuey explained that the club raised $2,000 before the stand opened thanks to the generosity of its members. He hoped that the money would help bring peace to families still searching for loved ones.
55 Seventy staff members were joined Friday morning by volunteer Allison Leigh, whose daughter was a Camp Mystic camper for nine years and counselor for two years.
“It’s just such a special place,” she said, adding that her daughter’s fellow campers are still some of her best friends, even though she’s now 21 years old.

“I just don’t know what to do,” Leigh said. “I just want to help in any small way possible.”
