Nell Bush, a child development specialist from Highland Park, learned about the creative opportunities SPARK! Dallas provides for children and teens through her friend Meg Bittner, who became executive director three years ago.

“After touring the amazing SPARK! space in Dallas (The Cedars) and viewing the Meow Wolf-sponsored student art installations, I was both intrigued and inspired,” she said.

More recently, Bush and her husband, Shelby, with another couple, co-chaired the “SPARKtacular” 10th anniversary celebration of the agency’s work, which encourages art and imaginative design through school field trips, summer camps, family activities, and after-school programs.

Why do you support it today?

It only takes one visit to SPARK! to see how much joy it offers!  It is enjoyed by families throughout North Texas but is especially important for those who might not otherwise have opportunities to create art or explore freely in fun spaces such as the giant climbing maze. The more financial support SPARK! receives, the more children and families will be able to benefit through scholarships and reduced fees on field trips, camps, and special activities, including birthday parties.

What would you say to someone else considering a donation to SPARK this year?

Every child deserves the chance to experience art, imaginative play, and creative design. Check out the fun evening events for adults as well, or go for a site visit, and you’ll be sold.
