Tucked into Preston Hollow is an oasis from the summer heat that’s providing an active lifestyle even during the worst of the “dog days of summer.”

“Those chimes you’re hearing are from our weekly sound bath going on inside the resort-style indoor pool,” said Holly Worrell, Lifestyles Director at Edgemere Senior Living, where she recently escorted prospective new residents on a tour of the Tuscan-inspired architecture and grounds renowned for high-end amenities.

After launching just this summer, Edgemere’s Sound Meditation Bath is available to residents once a week. Clothed in comfortable lounge wear or bathing suits, residents step into individual rafts for the one-hour experience where sound bowls and other therapeutic instruments promote meditation and relaxation. Some residents tuck into a cozy blanket as they float and meditate with their eyes closed, while others gaze up through the pool’s skylights as they experience the calming practice that has become a national wellness trend and is typically $300-$500 per session at uptown resorts and spas in Dallas.

“We’re focused on providing a high-end, active lifestyle during the summer months when it can be so oppressive to be outside,” said Worrell. Additional summer activities include boutique shopping experiences, a gourmet hot dog bar and beer afternoon for the gentlemen, a Dallas Tea Tour – even water volleyball, boxing, pickle ball and table tennis classes, as well as beaded dreams jewelry making.

“This is the time of year when many friends and family depart for vacation, but our residents know that they live every day in the vacationland that is Edgemere,” said Worrell.
