A Dallas law firm best known for fighting for injured North Texans is now being honored for helping keep the region’s music culture alive.
The Business Council for the Arts has named Mullen & Mullen Injury Law Firm the 2025 New Arts Initiative Award winner at the 37th Annual Obelisk Awards, recognizing its year-round effort to sustain independent artists and music venues through the Mullen & Mullen Music Project.
Launched in 2024, the project was created as small venues across North Texas faced closure due to rising costs and declining attendance. In response, the firm built a program that funds, promotes, and sustains local music. Its flagship event, JAMBALOO, debuted in February as a free, week-long festival featuring more than 100 artists across four venues. The festival drew a 280 percent surge in attendance, boosted sales 150 percent, and generated an estimated $3.5 million in local economic impact.
The firm was nominated for the award by Kristina Kirkenaer-Hart, Director of Cultural Tourism for Visit Dallas. The firm’s efforts have doubled the Dallas Music Office’s annual budget primarily through support of the Music Office’s groundbreaking busking program “Dallas Sounds Amplified.”
The 2025 Obelisk Awards, presented by Capital One and Corgan, will be held November 19 at the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District.
