Martha Womack Sawyers, age 76, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, on September 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer that later spread to her brain.
Born on March 24, 1949, in Dallas to Dr. Jack and Mrs. Weta Womack, Martha grew up with a love for life, laughter, and family. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1967 and attended Tyler Junior College, where she was a proud member of the Tau Kappa sorority and met the love of her life, Clayton Sawyers. The two married on April 24, 1971, and shared 52 years of marriage built on family, community, and joy.
Martha spent many years working as a medical assistant before dedicating herself to raising her four children. Known as a “mom to everyone in the neighborhood,” she created a home full of warmth, laughter, and open arms.
Martha and Clayton lived in the Park Cities until 2007, when they moved to Cedar Creek Country Club, where they quickly became part of a close-knit community. Both were active members of St. James Episcopal Church, where Martha taught Sunday School for many years. She also volunteered her time generously with Mabank Area Good Samaritans food pantry, reflecting her lifelong love of helping others.
For more than 20 years, Martha and Clayton brought joy as Santa and Mrs. Claus at locations across North Texas, eventually becoming beloved fixtures at Santa’s Country Christmas Park in Seagoville. Martha enjoyed her role as Mrs. Claus, supporting Clayton and bringing joy to children and families with her kindness, warmth, and sparkle.
Martha adored every holiday and found joy in celebrating them all—big or small. Whether it was decking the house in festive décor, hosting family gatherings, or showing up in a perfectly themed outfit, she made every occasion special. You could always spot Martha in pink and a smile. She loved to have a good time, loved a costume party, and enjoyed helping the ones she loved.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Sawyers, and her parents, Dr. Jack and Mrs. Weta Womack. She is survived by her children, Jacque Sawyers, Emilie Sawyers, Aimee and Kiel Rado, and Elizabeth Sawyers; her sister-in-law, Denise Bunch; nephews James and Sean Bunch and families; and countless friends who became family through the years.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. at a family friend’s home. Flowers may be delivered to Faith Presbyterian Hospice, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Bridge Breast Network, an organization that helps underprivileged women with mammograms, breast cancer screenings, and related support.
Martha’s legacy will live on in the laughter of her children, the joy of every holiday she celebrated, the sparkle of each Christmas season she brightened, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and love.
