Highland Park’s 17th consecutive win pushed the Lady Scots into the third round of the Class 5A Division I volleyball playoffs.
HP earned its second straight postseason sweep against Melissa on Tuesday in Rockwall, 25-12, 25-18, 27-25. The Lady Scots (39-8) looked equally dominant in the playoff opener against Frisco Heritage.
Having already advanced deeper in postseason play than a year ago, HP will try to reach the 40-win plateau on Thursday against Lake Belton in the Region II semifinals. The match is set for Cody Arena in Cleburne.
The Broncos (31-12), who are from Temple, are riding a 13-match winning streak of their own after easily dispatching Red Oak and Bryan Adams in their two playoff clashes.
Meanwhile, the Lady Scots haven’t lost in more than two months, and have dropped just seven sets since Sept. 5. The winner of Thursday’s match will face either Midlothian or McKinney North next week in the regional final.
