The Highland Park girls completed another impressive early-season tournament performance with a third-place finish at the Allen Lady Eagle Hoopfest on Saturday.

The Lady Scots (9-4) won four of their five games over three days. They fell to Lubbock Monterey 60-51 in the semifinals before bouncing back to defeat Frisco Emerson 53-50 for third place.

That HP victory also avenged a narrow loss to Emerson at the Cedar Hill Showcase in the season opener. Earlier in the event, topped Plano, McKinney North, and San Marcos by lopsided margins. Ellington Heis and Cate Young were named to the all-tournament team.

Last weekend, the Lady Scots took a similar road to a third-place showing at the Lady Panther Classic in Colleyville. HP won its first three games in convincing fashion against McKinney, Ursuline, and Colleyville Heritage, then lost to Southlake Carroll in the semifinals before a hard-fought triumph over Plano Prestonwood for third.

After hitting the road for more than two weeks, the Lady Scots will battle Mansfield Legacy in their home opener on Monday. Then they will host Frisco Memorial on Dec. 2 in their final tuneup before the District 12-5A opener on Dec. 9 against Frisco Lone Star.
