Highland Park raced to a double-digit lead before halftime and cruised to a 46-25 win over Frisco Lone Star in its District 12-5A girls basketball opener on Tuesday.
Ellington Heis scored 16 points and Kate Danner added 12 for the Lady Scots (11-5, 1-0), who allowed just 10 points in the first half as part of a stellar defensive effort.
HP split its regular-season matchups a year ago with Lone Star, where Todd Monsey coached before coming to HP three years ago.
After wrapping up a three-game homestand, the Lady Scots will resume the district schedule on Friday at Carrollton Creekview.
