‘Park Cities People’ Applauds

'Park Cities People' recognizes the winner of HPISD's financial audit art cover competition, University Park's longtime city prosecutor, the senior minister at HPUMC, and the members of Girl Scout Troop 3719.

 Highland Park High School sophomore Kate Bodwell, who won this year’s Highland Park ISD Financial Audit Art Cover Competition. Students from across the district were encouraged to illustrate what HPISD means to them during the annual contest. Bodwell’s design, titled “Camera Roll,” will be featured on the district’s published financial audit.



Dick Wood Jr., who transitioned to retirement this fall after 59 years of dedicated service as University Park’s assistant city attorney and city prosecutor. Wood devoted every Wednesday to representing the city, attending meetings in the evenings and during his lunch hour. City manager Robbie Corder stated that he had served with “a tremendous sense of professionalism and a sense of humor that’s been outstanding.”



Rev. Paul Rasmussen, who will step down as senior minister at Highland Park United Methodist Church effective Feb. 1 and assume the role of pastor emeritus. Rasmussen is navigating a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, a journey he has spoken about openly with the congregation. SMU, where Rasmussen earned his Master of Divinity, recently recognized his extraordinary achievements, outstanding character, and good citizenship with a Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor the university can bestow upon its graduates.



The members of Girl Scout Troop 3719, who donated 294 pounds of food to the North Texas Food Bank. The first-grade Daisies at Hyer Elementary provided 245 meals for needy North Texans this holiday season. More families turn to the food bank for help during the holidays than at any other time of year.
