Highland Park will start its girls soccer campaign with some elite competition this week at the annual Governor’s Cup tournament in Georgetown.
After being idle for the first week of the season, the Lady Scots will open with Round Rock on Thursday, followed by matchups against Boerne on Friday and The Woodlands on Saturday.
Next week, HP will participate in the Duncanville Kickoff Classic, with games scheduled against Arlington Martin, Ursuline, and Mansfield Lake Ridge in the same three-day, round-robin format.
The Lady Scots finished 18-4-2 last season and were eliminated by Red Oak in the Region II semifinals of the Class 5A Division I playoff bracket. Due to the late start, they will have just six nondistrict games prior to the District 12-5A opener on Jan. 23 at Carrollton Creekview.
