The City of Dallas has unveiled a new public-facing tool aimed at giving residents clearer insight into police oversight and accountability efforts.
The Office of Community Police Oversight (OCPO), in partnership with the City’s Office of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, has launched the Transparency & Accountability Dashboard, a publicly accessible tool designed to make police oversight data easier to understand, easier to access, and more meaningful for Dallas residents.
The dashboard draws its information directly from IAPro, the system used by the City of Dallas to manage and track internal and external administrative activity related to police oversight. It includes information dating back to October 2019 through the present, offering residents a comprehensive historical view of community interactions and oversight trends. The data was finalized following validation by the Dallas Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division.
Through the dashboard, the public can explore real-time, user-friendly information on external administrative matters submitted to both OCPO and the Dallas Police Department. Users can view data on categories such as complaint types, complainant demographics, officer commendations from the public, investigation routes, and final resolution outcomes. The platform also allows residents to explore trends by fiscal year, City Council district, patrol division, and zip code.
“We are proud to officially launch this dashboard and provide our community with a clear, accessible view of community complaint data,” said police monitor Michele Andre. “This tool represents our commitment to transparency and accountability. It ensures that residents not only have access to information but can easily understand how the complaint process works and how their concerns are handled.”
The platform is live and available to the public through the OCPO Transparency and Accountability Dashboard.
