Clayton Kershaw Has a New Role With the Dodgers

After closing out a legendary career with the Los Angeles Dodgers late last year, Highland Park High School alumnus Clayton Kershaw has a new role with the team.

It was announced over the weekend that the three-time Cy Young Award winner and three-time World Series champion, who announced his retirement last fall, would continue to serve the Dodgers as a special assistant.

MLB.com reports that more specifics of Kershaw’s new role weren’t available, but he returned to the Dodgers as a special assistant Friday.

“I think I’ll be involved. Probably not physically here in L.A.,” Kershaw said, according to MLB.com. “But definitely, I’m sure I’ll watch games. I still want to be a part of the Dodgers, so if I can help in some small piece, I will.”

Since his retirement, Kershaw also joined Team USA for the 2026 World Baseball Classic and signed on as an analyst with NBC, as MLB.com reported.

Kershaw made his debut as an analyst last week during Opening Day and stayed in Los Angeles for the World Series ring ceremony on March 27.
