The Highland Park ISD board of trustees recognized outstanding performances by HP’s wrestling and swim and dive teams during the March 31 meeting.

The girls’ swim and dive team ended its season as sixth in the state and the boys’ team finished in ninth place.

Diver Cullen Kemp won a silver medal, while diver Nathan Harris finished in seventh place. Highland Park was the only school in Texas to have two top-eight divers, head coach Jason Pullano told the board. Kemp broke the school record, while Harris improved from a 15th-place finish in 2025.

The team had four overall podium finishes, three silvers and one bronze. Pullano said it was an honor to walk alongside his athletes.

“There was a huge shift in culture that these kids ushered in this year,” he said. “We changed our theme from being survivors to being thrivers.”

The high school’s wrestling team finished ninth overall in the state tournament and came home with silver and bronze medals.

Head coach Tim Marzuola said he wasn’t sure what to expect this year from his mostly-young team.

“In spite of that, we finished with a 15 and 8 record,” he said. “We finished eighth in the state dual tournament. We finished second in the district, behind the state champion Melissa (ISD), second in regional behind Melissa, and then we finished ninth in state.”
