Four games still remain in the District 7-6A baseball season, but Jesuit Dallas already knows it’s bound for the postseason.
The Rangers secured a playoff berth Tuesday thanks to a dominant performance on the mound as James Jorgensen fired a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 20-0 win over Richardson.
The victory improved Jesuit to 10-0 in district and 20-6-2 overall heading into Tuesday’s game at home against Richardson Berkner.
While Jorgensen was stifling the Richardson bats, Taylor Haddock was powering the offense going 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Braxton Barber drew three walks and scored three runs, while Davis Montgomery went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs. Jorgensen also got in the act offensively knocking in three runs with a double, while Cooper Patton, Brooks Kowal, Cole Johnson, Roman Derichsweiler, Charlie Wilson, and Carter Noland all had hits and drove in runs.
Jesuit followed Tuesday’s run-rule victory with an 8-3 win Friday over the Eagles before topping Coppell Saturday in a non-district game, 4-1.
Jacob Martinez and Hudson Voss combined on the mound against Richardson, including the former earning the win after allowing two runs on six hits with nine strikeouts over six innings.
Wilson was a force offensively, doubling twice and driving in five to go with a stolen base.
Five pitchers combined on the mound in the win over Coppell with Jorgensen producing two singles and two RBIs and Derichsweiler also plating two.
As noted, Jesuit continues in district Tuesday against the Rams before traveling to Berkner on Friday and concluding the regular season next week with a series against Irving Nimitz.
