Beloved, Oprah-approved chocolatier Kate Weiser Chocolate is closing its stores after more than a decade.
The chocolatier known for colorful, hand-painted chocolate pieces and the seasonal hot chocolate snowman Carl that made Oprah’s Favorite Things list in 2018, has stores in NorthPark Center and Trinity Groves in Dallas, Main Street in Grapevine, and Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth.
The stores at NorthPark Center and Trinity Groves are open while supplies last and the stores at Grapevine and Shops at Clearfork are set to close on April 17. The website is sold out for online ordering.
“After 12 years of creating beautiful chocolates and making holiday memories, my financial partners and I have decided to close our doors,” a post on Kate Weiser Chocolate’s social media announcing the planned closure read. “Our business is highly seasonal, labor intensive, and, over the last few years, has required a heavy financial lift to continue operating.”
The post notes that Kate Weiser Chocolate has taken steps to secure jobs for impacted staff members, and fans will be able to enjoy Carl the Snowman for one more holiday season this year through Central Market.
“Thank you to all my customers for your support over the years, to my vendors, and to my financial partners for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime – the past 12 years have been the most incredible, wild ride,” the post concluded.
Kate Weiser began her career in chocolate as Executive Chocolatier at Chocolate Secrets in Highland Park before starting her eponymous chocolate brand.
Kate Weiser Chocolate first opened in Trinity Groves in 2014, expanded to NorthPark Center in 2016, and the Shops at Clearfork in 2018.
