SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: EASY PICKINGS

Reported at 11:11 a.m. May 2: An opportunistic thief stole a makeup bag with about $200 worth of makeup inside as well as a North Face backpack worth $150, a MacBook Air laptop, a Venmo debit card, and a Target credit card from a Lexus that’d been left unlocked in the 3500 block of Cornell Avenue.

HIGHLAND PARK

27 Monday

Reported at 6:54 p.m.: A fraudster used the information of a resident in the 3100 block of Mockingbird Lane to open a Visa account.

29 Wednesday

Arrested at 1:23 a.m.: A 19 year old for unlawfully carrying a weapon in the 4200 block of Mockingbird Lane.

Reported at 8:58 a.m.: A porch pirate pilfered two packages from the front steps of a home in the 4400 block of Southern Avenue containing $500 worth of Lululemon and Fendi clothes.

30 Thursday

Reported at 7:42 p.m.: A thief took two tool chests containing nail guns, a jig saw, a multitool saw, two Dewalt coordless hand sanders, a Dewalt battery charger, heat gun, and various hand tools from a trailer in the 3300 block of Drexel Drive and fled the scene.

Reported at 4:27 p.m.: A burglar got into a GMC Yukon Denali in the 4400 block of Edmondson Avenue and stole a Smith & Wesson 9mm Equalizer handgun.

2 Saturday

Arrested at 12:50 a.m.: A 26 year old for an accident involving damage to a vehicle, evading arrest or detection with a vehicle, and driving while intoxicated in the 4200 block of Mockingbird Lane.

27 Monday

Reported at 6:46 a.m.: A crook drove off in a vehicle from the 3900 block of Centenary Drive.

Reported at 3:49 p.m.: A shoplifter stole stole stuff from a CVS store in the 6700 block of Preston Road.

28 Tuesday

Reported at 1:21 p.m.: How easy was it for a burglar to swipe a laptop from a vehicle on Asbury Avenue? The vehicle was left unlocked.
