University Park has added a little spice to the menu at the Holmes Aquatic Center.

Where there were frozen pizzas served after a quick microwave zap, now, there are chicken tender baskets prepared to order.

ICEEs have replaced snow cones. The menu also features burgers, hot dogs, lots of chicken dishes, brisket items, Dippin’ Dots, and many other options.

The Holmes Aquatic Center has transferred ownership of Fin’s SnackShack to Ted E’s Kitchen to provide better food to patrons.

Everything at the snack shack is fresh and prepared completely by Ted E’s kitchen staff. While the burgers and chicken dishes are made to order, the pool doesn’t have a brisket smoker on site, so the brisket is brought to the pool throughout the week for wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, and nachos.

The fan favorite seems to be the Chicken Finger Basket. Its served with fries, Texas toast, and a choice of barbeque or ranch dipping sauce. Kids and adults alike can’t resist a good basket of chicken tenders and fries, said Aquatics Coordinator Robert Coleman.

“Their breading is good, the seasoning is good, and it comes with fries,” he added. “I really like those.”

If you’re at the pool, it could be time to dive into the new and improved snack shack for fresh lunch and a treat.
