For the second time in a month, Wyndham Clark has spoiled the championship aspirations of multiple Dallas golfers.

After claiming the championship May 21-24 at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson in McKinney, Clark added another trophy to his case Sunday when he held on down the stretch to win the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York.

It is the second time Clark has won the national championship after previously taking first in 2023 at the Los Angeles Country Club.

Clark entered the final round Sunday with a six shot lead before settling for a final score of 4-under-par (276) to defeat Sam Burns by one shot.

Just off the pace of Clark and Burns in third was Preston Hollow resident Tom Kim (279), while Highland Park’s Scottie Scheffler — who was competing in the final pairing Sunday alongside Clark — finished in a tie for fourth (280).

“The first one was kind of just the breakthrough of knowing I can do it, and then this one was a lot of redemption,” Clark said. “Last year was so tough, a terrible year. I left in shambles, and it’s amazing what a year can do. I’m leaving here this Sunday as a champion, and I’m just so blessed.”
