A memorial service is set for Charles Hosch, a lawyer and SMU professor who went missing in Georgia in November.
The service is set for 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at University Park United Methodist Church, according to a post on the Bring Charles Home Facebook page.
“All are welcome, in person or by livestream,” the post read. “Our family is so grateful for the incredible support we have received these past months. Thank you all.”
Hosch, who co-founded the law firm Hosch & Morris and was an adjunct faculty member at SMU’s Dedman School of Law, went missing on Nov. 11, 2025, after heading out for a hike on the Byron Herbert Reece Trail near Blood Mountain in Union County in Georgia, according to a post on the law firm’s website.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office paused its active search operations Nov. 25, 2025, pending additional information or clues, but search efforts continued this year, with Hosch’s family and colleagues providing updates on the Bring Charles Home website.
Hosch founded Hosch & Morris in 2019 and, prior to that, spent 35 years at Strasburger & Price. He had taught at SMU’s Dedman School of Law since 1991.
His colleagues had previously described Charles as “an exceptional attorney and teacher” and a “wonderful friend.”
