Dallas Closures For Sept. 4 Furlough Day

Some Dallas offices and services will be closed Sept. 4. Here's what to know

Some Dallas offices and services will be closed Friday, Sept. 4, for the second citywide furlough day, implemented in an effort to address the current year budget shortfall.

Emergency services, like the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Fire-Rescue and EMS, will remain fully operational, even while administrative offices and Dallas City Hall will be closed. Other critical services and facilities, like Dallas Water Utilities customer service, 3-1-1 for issues such as water main breaks and downed trees, sanitation services, Dallas Love Field, and Dallas Animal Services, will also be open.

Libraries, Code Compliance, and Dallas Park and Recreation administrative offices and facilities are among the city services and facilities that will be closed.

Here’s the full list of city services and facilities that will be open and closed:

Sanitation ServicesOPENAll collections, including recycling, garbage, and brush/bulky item collection, will continue as normally scheduled.
 
The McCommas Bluff Landfill and transfer stations will remain open during regular hours for residential self-service disposal. For disposal hours and additional information, please visit dsan.us/disposalinfo.
Dallas Animal ServicesOPENNormal Operating Hours. Both administrative offices and the shelter will remain open during regular hours. To accommodate the mandatory furlough day, Pet Support (Intake) Services will be closed to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Bath House Cultural CenterOPENRegular Public Hours. Galleries and public spaces are open to visitors.Employees will observe furlough day on September 2 and September 23.
Oak Cliff Cultural CenterOPENRegular Public Hours. Galleries and public spaces are open to visitors. Employees will observe furlough day on September 2 and September 23.
South Dallas Cultural CenterOPENRegular Public Hours. Galleries and public spaces are open to visitors. Employees will observe furlough day on September 2 and September 23.
Latino Cultural CenterOPENRegular Public Hours. Galleries and public spaces are open to visitors. Employees will observe furlough day on September 2 and September 17.
Municipal Court & Detention ServicesOPENNormal Operating Hours. The Municipal Court building will remain open during these furlough days. Employees will observe furlough day on an alternate day. 
WIC ClinicsOPENNormal Operating Hours.
Planning and DevelopmentMODIFIEDThe Oak Cliff Municipal Center at 320 E. Jefferson and District Offices will remain open with normal operating hours. Administrative offices at City Hall 1FN and 5BN will be closed.
Community CentersMODIFIEDWest Dallas Multipurpose Center, Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and Vital Statistics (inside Dallas Central Library) will be closed. Foremost Family Health Clinic and ChildCareGroup on the MLK campus will each remain open. Dallas County Older Adult Services Nutrition Program services will transition to home meal delivery for closed sites.
City HallCLOSEDThe building will be closed to the public.
Dallas Park and RecreationCLOSEDAll administrative offices and facilities including rec centers, aquatics, golf courses, and Fair Park will be closed.
Dallas Public LibrariesCLOSEDAll branches will be closed. Digital resources and catalogs are available 24/7 at DallasLibrary.org.
Code ComplianceCLOSEDCode offices will be closed.
Dallas Water Utilities Lobby at City HallCLOSEDThe Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) customer service lobby will be closed to the public. 

Customers with questions regarding their water bill may call DWU Customer Service at 214-651-1441, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or send an email to [email protected]. For water service requests, call 3-1-1. Non-emergency requests can be submitted at dallas.gov or on the Dallas 311 mobile app.

DWU’s water, wastewater and stormwater operations will remain on their continuous schedule of 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round, including holidays.
Office of Arts and CultureCLOSEDThe main administrative and headquarters offices will be closed.

The next furlough day after Sept. 4 is set for Sept. 28.
