It takes a veritable symphony of high school students to lead the annual Junior Symphony Ball in support of music education and programming.
The Junior Symphony Ball, now in its 69th year, is the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s longest-running fundraiser. It brings high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors together for a night of live music, dancing, gaming tables, and raffle prizes — all to support the education and community engagement programs of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
The 2027 ‘Night at the Ranch’-themed ball will return to Gilley’s Dallas on Jan. 30, 2027. Its lineup of 10 co-chairs spans schools across the Park Cities and Preston Hollow.
The 2027 co-chairs are Olivia Shapiro from Parish Episcopal School, Juliet Allen from The Hockaday School, Lyla Durrett from Ursuline Academy, Natalie Anne Brewer and Levi Shore from Highland Park High School, Madi Mayes from Bishop Lynch High School, Hudson Krug and Miles McLeod from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, Brooks Main from St. Mark’s School of Texas, and John Edge Sowa from The Episcopal School of Dallas.
Programs supported by the event include the Cecil and Ida Green Youth Concert Series, DSO Cares, which seeks to bring the wellness benefits of music to seniors, as well as the Kim Noltemy Young Musicians and Young Strings program, which provides free instruments and lessons to 400 children annually with a focus on southern Dallas.
Steering committee tickets for the 2027 Junior Symphony Ball, starting at $395 or $495 for VIP tickets, went on sale Sept. 9. They can be purchased at dallassymphonyleague.com/Junior-Symphony-Ball.
General admission tickets will go on sale in early January. The 2026 “party with a purpose” brought more than 3,000 high school students from upwards of 35 schools together and raised a record-setting $593,500.
The Junior Symphony Ball is one of the major events of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, a group of volunteers who support the DSO via service, education, and fundraising efforts. The group’s other popular events include Fashion Notes, a Presentation Ball honoring DSO Debutantes and their families, Savor the Symphony, and youth concerts.
