SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: GIFT CARD FRAUD

Reported at 1:09 p.m. Sept. 28: A scammer purporting to be from the sheriff’s office seeking to collect money for an outstanding warrant took $3,600 via gift cards and money transfers from a resident in the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

HIGHLAND PARK

28 Monday

Arrested at 1:10 a.m.: A 25 year old for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon at the intersection of Wycliff Avenue and Throckmorton Street.

29 Tuesday

Reported at 8:09 a.m.: An opportunistic thief drove off in a Lincoln Navigator belonging to a resident in the 4500 block of Westside Drive that may have had a key in the center console. The vehicle was later found in Dallas.

Reported at 9:07 a.m.: A fraudster altered checks written by a resident in the 3500 block of Mockingbird Lane.

Reported at 10:13 p.m.: A crook took a Trek Marlin 5 bicycle from a home in the 3500 block of St. Johns Drive.

Reported at 10:23 a.m.: A mischief maker damaged a vehicle on Grassmere Lane.

Reported at 7:53 p.m.: A disturbance led to a crash in Snider Plaza after which the driver left the scene.

Reported at 4:03 p.m.: A harasser on Purdue Street.

30 Wednesday

Reported at 10:30 a.m.: Contractors trespassing on a property on Hanover Street.

Reported at 2:10 p.m.: A fraudster used the information of a resident on Lovers Lane.

Reported at 2:31 p.m.: A thief stole things from a CVS store on Preston Road.

Reported at 4:47 p.m.: A burglar got into a vehicle on Preston Road.

Reported at 6:39 p.m.: A hit-and-run crash on Lovers Lane.
