Make-A-Wish North Texas has announced a $1.25 million donation from the Donovitz Family Foundation.

The gift was announced on Sept. 14 at Wish Upon a Par, a Make-A-Wish North Texas golf tournament that took place at The Nelson Golf & Sports Club at the Ritz Carlton Las Colinas. Becky and Gary Donovitz and Kim and Jerome Elenez chaired the event.

The Donovitz Family Foundation provides funding to innovative organizations that support veterans, economically disadvantaged children, and medical research, specifically in the area of women’s health care.

“The Donovitz family doesn’t simply support Make-A-Wish; they have truly become part of our family,” said Kim Elenez, CEO of Make-A-Wish North Texas. “This incredibly generous gift is about the impact that will be made and the hundreds of wish kids who will benefit, including hundreds who won’t have to wait two years to have their wish granted.”

The gift sum was donated in support of the organization’s “Two Years, Too Long” campaign, an initiative that focuses on reducing the growing wait for wishes of North Texas children facing critical illnesses.

Make-A-Wish North Texas launched its campaign to rally community support so that it can shorten the timeline of delivering wishes to children when they need hope most.

According to Make-A-Wish, there are 1,150 children across North Texas who are waiting for their wishes; some families are facing delays of more than two years based on current funding levels.

‘The Impact of a Wish’: The 2022 Wish Impact Survey found that 95% of wish alumni felt more hopeful for their future after their wish.

To further the impact that children receive from their wish, Wish Upon a Par attendees had the opportunity to participate in Make-A-Wish’s raffle.

Every swing and ticket purchased at the golf tournament contributed directly to granting wishes that bring hope and joy.

Through the support of donors, volunteers and community partners, Make-A-Wish North Texas continues working toward a future where every eligible child can experience the power of a wish without delay.
