Work is ongoing on some of Highland Park ISD’s 2024 bond projects, including ones to add additional student parking and a practice field.
HPISD Executive Director of Construction Services Scott Drillette said the district is working to clear the final properties necessary to begin construction of an additional student parking lot on the north side of Hyer Street near Westchester Drive and add a practice field in a space to the south of Lovers Lane, east of Westchester.
District officials explained that legal back-and-forth with a former tenant in an apartment property on the site they want to use for the project has delayed the project.
Meanwhile, Drillette said another project that involved replacing turf and safety netting, as well as reorienting foul lines, at Scotland Yard is essentially “completed.”
As for the softball field, Drillette said work to add a changing room for players, upgrade batting cages, and improve bullpens is expected to be complete in November.
