If you thought the dog days of summer ended on Labor Day, think again.
It was party time for neighborhood pooches on Sept. 26 during University Park’s Doggie Splash Day at the Holmes Aquatic Center.
Human residents of Highland Park ISD preregistered some 87 dogs to take one last plunge, making Splash Day the social event of the season for water-loving pups.
The fun included dog paddling, tennis and football chasing, treats, family photos, and the opportunity to jump off the diving board for thrill-seeking pups.
Participants didn’t need to be furry and four-legged to get in on the fun. The doggie swimmers were joined by two-legged companions young and old.
