More than half a million dollars’ worth of property was stolen from a Park Cities home last week.
According to an incident report supplied by the University Park Police Department, the house on Bryn Mawr Drive was broken into between 3 and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The six-page itemized report says the burglar’s haul of stolen loot includes:
- More than 70 pairs of earrings with a combined value of $170,550
- Nine wristwatches with a combined value of $102,250
- Nearly 50 rings with a combined value of $101,180
- Twenty-five necklaces with a combined value of $71,050
- Nine bracelets with a combined value of $45,450
- Nine brooches with a combined value of $10,950.
Also reported stolen were $2,000 cash, a $500 iPod, a $500 laptop, and a $350 hairpin.
The owner of the house declined to comment to Park Cities People, saying he wasn’t looking for any publicity.
Officer Lita Snellgrove could not confirm that this was University Park’s biggest burglary ever, “but I can’t say I’ve seen this much in a while,” she said.

Snellgrove said detectives plan to interview anyone who’s been in the house in the last month, and they’re checking to see if any of the stolen jewelry shows up for sale online.
