Political candidates had to file campaign-finance reports yesterday covering activity from Jan. 24 through Feb. 22. These latest reports showed once again that Chart Westcott is on a different financial plane from the other two Republicans seeking to represent Texas House District 108.

Candidate

Contributions

Expenditures

Cash on hand

Court Alley

$12,515.00

$28,983.31

$45,024.03

Morgan Meyer

$70,851.00

$83,990.45

$173,061.00

Chart Westcott

$174,385.16

$537,911.44

$194,782.59

Alley’s biggest contribution was $2,500 from Elloine Clark. Meyer’s biggest contribution was $5,000 from Louis Beecherl.

Westcott reported $100,000 worth of in-kind contributions from country singer Pat Green, who put on a Jan. 30 show for the candidate at his Uptown restaurant, The Rustic. (But Westcott also reported paying Green $5,400 for band expenses and sending $37,404.20 to Encore Live, which staged the event.) He also reported $10,424.96 worth of in-kind contributions from his family’s investment firm, Westcott LLC.

But his biggest cash contribution — $10,000 — came from someone who’ll be familiar to any Dallas resident who’s ever killed time watching daytime TV.
