During a reception at the Dallas Country Club last night, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas president and CEO Gordon Echtenkamp announced the Y’s formal merge with the Rise School of Dallas. The Park Cities Y and the Rise School will still operate individually until the opening of the new Moody Family YMCA.

“I am very excited the YMCA and the Rise School have taken his next step to merge to best serve our community,” Echtenkamp said in a statement. “The work and mission of the YMCA for 130 years in Dallas has been evident in our effort to serve and nurture all children and families.”

Kurt Steves, president of the Rise School’s Touchdown Club, also announced a $1 million gift to the YMCA Pathways Campaign for the new, Moody Family campus. That donation puts the Y at the 55 percent mark, with $15.3 million total.
