Another in the long line of Highland Park High School graduates who experienced plenty of success in a cool career, Calmes was influential in the Dallas rock scene in the 1960s and 1970s through Showco, a company he co-founded that promoted and provided sound systems for major concerts.
Calmes, who also attended SMU, died yesterday at age 71. The Dallas Morning News has a fitting obituary here that pays tribute to “Cadillac Jack.”
