If you see someone skipping down Mockingbird Lane carrying $20,000 worth of tech equipment, give the folks at Highland Park United Methodist Church a call. It’s their stuff.
Over the past two months, thieves have stolen a variety of computer and techie items from the church, including:
- one $10,000 lighting controller
- one $5,000 Apple desktop computer
- two $225 Blu-Ray players
- two $300 computer monitors
Oh and they nabbed a computer keyboard and a surge protector as well.
For all the things the thief took, he forgot one item: the church security cameras! On Sept. 28, security cameras caught a white male, 5’8″ to 5’11”, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with short brown hair, walking into a church balcony and walking out with a $5,000 Mac Pro G5.

Throw a beard on that guy, and it sounds like I robbed the place. But I have a computer, and I’m not entirely sure what good a $10,000 lighting controller would be in a one-bedroom apartment.
Anyway, a witness saw a similar-looking man in a silver 2007 Mazda II (I drive a Volkswagen, btw.), so if you see me driving around SMU in a silver Mazda, give the cops a shout.
