Since 1976, people have recognized Shelton as the premier school and resource center for intelligent children who just happen to have a learning difference. Shelton is the largest independent school worldwide for students with learning differences in grades Preschool through 12th. Shelton empowers students through a customized approach within a mainstream environment with a 6:1 student/faculty ratio. It has been the turning point for thousands of students. Shelton’s individualized, structured multisensory academic program, especially written for LD students, challenges students by building the necessary skills. Shelton offers a comprehensive curriculum with a strong academic orientation and a nurturing family atmosphere that considers the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth of each student. In addition, the school offers a full array of extracurricular activities. Whether students leave Shelton to return to a mainstream classroom, take a gap year or head to college, they are equipped to meet the next challenge. Shelton is also a national training center for educators, parents, physicians, psychologists, and student interns. Shelton’s bundled services include an evaluation center, a speech/language/hearing center, and an outreach/training program — all open to the community.
