Last night, University Park City Council members debated changes to regulations on garage sales.
Three modifications were proposed: the first would allow two sales a year, as opposed to two days a year, so you can take full advantage of a weekend sale. Next, a space on the city website would allow residents to advertise a registered sale, and minimize problems with too many yard signs. The third change would allow sales in front driveways or patios. Right now, sales are only allowed in back driveways or patios. That’s where things got hairy.
“I just don’t think that this is going to improve our neighborhood,” Mayor Pro Tem Bob Clark said. “The quality of our neighborhood is sacred.”
The council approved an amended ordinance that left out changes to the back driveway restriction. Look for more details in this week’s paper.
